We aim to operate as a 'one-stop-shop' for healthcare employers
The Healthcare Education Consortium offers a comprehensive range of healthcare degree apprenticeship programmes and aims to operate as a ‘one-stop-shop’ for healthcare employers. We work proactively with healthcare employers to inform the design and delivery of our degree apprenticeship programmes to ensure that we better meet their needs.

How we work with employers to better meet their needs
Targets identified in the NHS Plan are beyond the capacity of any individual university and require a collaborative approach bringing together multiple higher education providers. We will:
01.
Proactively engage with NHS employers and professional bodies to identify their degree apprenticeship needs, while also identifying and addressing existing and emerging barriers that may hinder growth.
02.
Evaluate employer information and intelligence to directly inform degree apprenticeship programme design and delivery.
03.
Explore innovative approaches to increase apprentice starts, aligning with the NHS future workforce requirements.
04.
Lead the collaborative design and development of degree apprenticeship programmes that effectively address identified barriers and challenges while fulfilling key needs, ensuring professional standards are upheld throughout.
05.
Coordinate required professional body approval and accreditation on an individual university or collaborative basis.
06.
Mobilise recruitment capacity across Consortium universities to support effective recruitment to healthcare degree apprenticeship programmes in partnership with NHS employers.
07.
Draw on Consortium universities' expertise in reaching under-represented groups to enhance equality of opportunity to access degree apprenticeships.
The key benefits of the Consortium to employers
Towards a one-stop-shop for healthcare education: providing a ‘one-stop-shop’ for NHS, employers save time and money as they do not need to communicate and work with a range of universities.
A comprehensive degree apprenticeship offer – working on their own individual universities are unlikely to have the resources to meet national employer needs. By joining forces, we can pool our funds and expertise and offer a broader range of healthcare degree apprenticeships to meet NHS requirements.
Driving innovation: a commitment to share innovative practice is at the heart of the Health Education Consortium and ensures that we work as an innovation engine creating solutions to the growth barriers employers identify.
Scalability and growth: working together means it is possible to scale up provision to meet the increasing demand outlined in the NHS Long-Term Workforce Plan.
