Using advanced communication and behaviour-change skills, to enable people to make lifestyle and food choices to improve their health.
Dietitians assess, diagnose, plan, implement, monitor, review and evaluate nutrition and dietetic interventions. Dietitians use the most up-to-date public health and scientific research on food, health and disease to inform their practice. They work in partnership with a diverse range of people to provide tailored, evidence-based practical advice to individuals, groups and populations across the lifespan.
We offer the following programmes:
University of Hertfordshire
BSc (Hons) Dietetics (Work-Based) Degree Apprenticeship
Duration

Delivery approach
Learners are released for one day a week of learning, which takes place online in the majority. There are infrequent periods of block release on campus for face-to-face activities, which are kept to a minimum to reduce travel.
We aim to support learners to integrate their university and workplace experiences, so that they can appreciate the range of dietetic pratice while growing their own dietetic skillset.
Unique benefits for employers
We are experienced in successfully training dietitians through our long-established dietetic programme and bring this wealth of knowledge and experience into our apprenticeship course.
We worked closely with employers to design a programme which works for them, and with ongoing input into the course as it develops.
There is a high level of learner support available, ranging from academic skills to career planning to wellbeing. This is alongside the support they are offered through their apprenticeship coach, personal tutor and teaching team.
Our course is designed to meet HCPC and BDA professional standards, as well as the dietitian apprenticeship standard. Placements are sourced through employers however UH supports creating links with other providers where possible, so that leaners can have a range of experiences.
