Paramedic

Providing high quality and compassionate care, responding to the needs of service users and carers across the lifespan.

This occupation is found in healthcare. Paramedics carry out their work in a wide variety of settings, which may include a front-line ambulance, GP surgery, a minor injury/illness centre, in remote medicine or a varied range of other community environments, including people's homes.

We offer the following programmes:
Greenwich University

BSc (Hons) Paramedic Science (Degree apprenticeship)

Duration

36 months

Delivery approach

Face-to-face delivery. Apprentices will attend university on a block delivery schedule to minimise the impact on the allocation of shifts during the on-the-job elements of the programme.

Unique benefits for employers
  • There are currently no degree apprenticeships for paramedics offering face-to-face teaching in the area. Apprentices for local ambulance services currently use Cumbria University for delivery of their apprenticeships, and this is heavily slanted towards online delivery. Feedback about the online delivery has been mixed but we are aware that attrition is much higher on the Cumbria programme than on other apprenticeships in England.

  • The programme is a newly written programme that considers the needs of the apprentice and employer rather than trying to convert an existing programme.

  • The programme is innovative in its approach to IPE, ensuring that learners are not disadvantaged by being employees when compared to the conventional route through to qualification.

  • Year one of the programme maps to the existing level four associate ambulance practitioner (AAP) apprenticeship, which provides an opportunity for AAPs to enter the degree apprenticeship with advanced standing at the start of the second year / Level 5.
